Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is testifying in front of the U.S. Senate today over delays to the post office as the 2020 election approaches and people plan to vote by mail due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Because of the pandemic, the hearing was conducted virtually. And just an hour in, another indelible moment was added to our list of our elderly leaders trying and failing to telecommute.
First, it was the Supreme Court’s toilet flush, then “Mr. Bezos, I believe you’re on mute.”
Now, it’s Sen. Tom Carper’s (D-Del.) “fuck, fuck, fuck.”
It was Carper’s turn to question DeJoy, and perhaps having another tab open and struggling to find his teleconference screen but not realizing he’s unmuted or struggling with his Wi-Fi, he dropped a “fuck, fuck, fuck.”
It was, in a word, relatable.
