The New York Times‘ lawyer David McCraw issued a letter in response to Donald Trump‘s legal camp  on Thursday. It’s full of shade and doesn’t appear concerned with the Republican presidential nominee’s libel lawsuit.

On Wednesday a report from the Times that two women were sexually assaulted by Trump in the early ’80s and 2005, respectively, went live. That night Trump’s lawyer issued a letter demanding both a retraction and an apology.

“Nothing in our article has had the slightest effect on the reputation that Mr. Trump, through his own words and actions, has already created for himself,” McCraw countered.

“The women quoted in our story spoke out on an issue of national importance,” he continued. “Our reporters diligently worked confirm the women’s accounts.”

The response on Twitter has almost been as attention-grabbing as the letter itself.
