Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes (D-N.Y.) may have moved on from her bartending career, but she hasn’t lost her drink-slinging skills. Monday morning, in response to an @ from author and political analyst Anand Giridharadas, the freshman congresswoman thrilled her Twitter followers with a list of “Cocktails for the Revolution.”

Her suggested cocktails include a Bitter Dark n’ Stormy for a world without a Green New Deal (a series of ambitious policies that would aim to fight climate change and inequity in one fell swoop); Paid Parental Leave (a mocktail, or virgin, margarita), Policy Failure (anything with Goldschläger); and more.

After Cortez’s tweet, it didn’t take long for Twitter to get in on the fun. “I would ask @AOC for a simple White Russian but in this political climate I’ll wait until the 2020 elections,” one user tweeted, throwing a casual side eye at the Mueller investigation into Russian election interference on behalf of the Trump campaign. “New York without a Green New Deal: a watered down Manhattan,” wrote another. “If you make the first one with a splash of Jack you’d get. A Bitter Dark n’ Stormy Daniels,” quipped yet another, referencing Trump’s alleged affair with porn star Stormy Daniels.

Rather than stop at just one shot of straight-up Cortez Twitter magic, the congresswoman offered a chaser in the comments. When asked for her suggestion for Brexit cocktails, she responded, “Hard Brexit: a straight shot of bathtub gin, with no imported botanicals.”

The exchange thrilled Giridharadas, who said Cortez had provided his imaginary salon with “the best cocktail menu on the planet.”

This isn’t the first time Cortez has demonstrated social media wizardry. The youngest member of Congress has made such a splash—not to mention a meal of her critics—that soon after taking office she was tasked with teaching her fellow Democratic representatives how to do Twitter.

Of course, as with every statement Cortez makes, the tweet got under her detractors’ skins, who wasted no time attempting to deflate the fun balloon with comebacks, such as one incorrectly mashing together Winston Churchill quotes denouncing socialism, and another awarding her with “the crown for the most random, stupid thought in a tweet.”

But overall, most were just eager for a taste of the revolution.

Based on her thread, it’s pretty clear that the bar will be standing room only.
