While the sports world continues to mourn the death of 24-year-old All-Star pitcher Jose Fernandez, the details of his mysterious boating accident remain under scrutiny.

He was reportedly at the American Social Bar & Kitchen in Miami just 90 minutes before his death, according to TMZ. We also know that his friend, Eduardo Rivero, sent a serious of ominous text messages just before going out to sea.

According to USA Today, Fernandez was upset following an argument with his girlfriend and hell bent on blowing off steam in the water. Rivero and Emilio Macia went out there with him to lend the embattled MLB pitcher support—even if it meant doing so well after midnight.
