Last Week Tonight was off this week due to Memorial Day, but that doesn’t mean John Oliver didn’t try and report on what happened anyway.

Filmed during the May 18 taping, Oliver and his staff sat down and came up with some fairly safe predictions that he could report on without too much risk of being wrong, simply because they were almost guaranteed to happen.

LeBron James making a shot? Safe. An old rich white guy saying something racist and/or sexist? Another fair assumption. But past that, it gets a lot murkier to predict the news without a time machine, and there are simply some things he couldn’t have ever known about in advance.

You’ll just have to wait until next week for the actual news recap—unless he won the lottery. Then that’s not such a safe assumption.
