Popular YouTube star Elijah Daniel has bought the small town of Hell, Michigan, and renamed it Gay Hell.

“As of today, I am the owner of Hell, Michigan. I bought the whole town,” Daniel tweeted to his 629,000 followers. “The only flags allowed to fly are pride.”

Daniel is also a musician who goes by the name “Lil Phag.” He said he renamed the town to protest the Trump administration’s ban on U.S. embassies flying the Pride flag.

Daniel hasn’t revealed how much he paid for the town but told NBC News that as of right now, he is the temporary owner. The town is about 15 miles northwest of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has an estimated population of 70 people.

Daniel did not immediately respond to the Daily Dot’s request for comment. He clarified his tweet to NBC, saying that the flag rule was only a joke, but he hopes that his purchase will inspire more people to visit Michigan.

“I have a young audience who is 16 to 24 who would not be involved in politics if it wasn’t in a funny or meme way,” the YouTube star told NBC News. “I’m just trying to have fun and get my audience politically active.”
