If you subscribe to the New York Times magazine, you may have noticed it ran an interview with legendary rapper Diddy this week. What you might have missed is the part where he addresses a vintage meme and finally puts some rumors to rest.
Back in the olden times, when people were still taking taking white Impact font and putting it on top of .jpegs as a form of comedy, a photo of Diddy sitting courtside at a basketball game went viral after fans realized he was staring at a dollar bill in confusion. Somehow, in the billfold of $100s he’d fanned out to pay for a beer or a pretzel, a plain old George Washington had appeared, and it seemed like the rapper truly did not recognize what he was looking at:
So while it had his ear this week, the Times finally asked him for the story behind the image.
