Fashion is a big topic on Tumblr, the image-heavy blogging tool. So once again, the company behind it is taking notice and sending bloggers to New York Fashion Week this fall.
Rich Tong, Tumblr’s fashion director, wrote yesterday he will select a group of bloggers to cover the seminannual event. In February, Tumblr sent 24 bloggers to cover the eight-day event. The website covered all costs for the participants, including lodging, flights, and meals.
Tong said he’s looking for an additional four bloggers to focus on hair, beauty, shoes, and accessories at this fall’s event, which focuses on couture set to be released next spring.
It’s not clear if Tumblr is sending just four bloggers this year, or if the four specialists are in addition to the dozens of bloggers Tumblr sponsored last time around. Tong didn’t immediately respond to an email requesting clarification, but it would be surprising if Tumblr dialed back its presence at NYFW, given the site’s runaway growth.
Update: Tong wrote back to The Daily Dot saying “We haven’t decided on a final number of bloggers, though it will be more than 4.”
To apply, applicants must submit a link of their blog to Tong by email, specify one of the four targeted categories, and offer a reason why they think they would be a great choice. NYFW takes place Sept. 8-15.
