On Wednesday, New Hampshire state Rep. Robert Fisher, who the Daily Beast revealed to be the creator and moderator of Reddit’s misogynistic men’s rights forum “The Red Pill,” resigned after a state legislative committee voted that no action be taken against him.

Fisher’s resignation follows weeks of reporting by the Daily Beast that found Fisher led the forum promoting rape and pickup artistry and wrote extensively on the idea that women are unintelligent and boring, and that they often make up sexual assault accusations.

Despite the Daily Beast’s two feature stories connecting details of Fisher’s life to the anonymous accounts running the subreddit, Fisher previously denied his connection to “The Red Pill.” He later admitted he helped create the forum, but still denied his current involvement during a public inquiry last week.

At a hearing on Wednesday to determine if Fisher should be punished, a New Hampshire legislative committee voted eight to six along party lines in favor of no action being taken when a full House votes on the matter next month. Fisher’s resignation will be accepted at a Thursday meeting of the House.
