Kristen Stewart’s mom outed her as bisexual, and the Internet is super excited

Not everyone thinks it was okay for her mom to do this.

If Tumblr tags like “krisbian” are any indication of celebrity sexuality, then Kristen Stewart has been queer for years—even though her long-speculated relationship with her personal assistant Alicia Cargile has always remained firmly in rumor territory.

But we finally got a break from seeing their relationship constantly referred to with the frustratingly coy phrase “gal pals” when Stewart’s mother Jules confirmed to The Mirror that her daughter is bisexual and that Cargile is her “girlfriend.”

Wow, how was your Pride weekend?

“I’ve met Kristen’s new girlfriend,” Stewart told the British tabloid. “I like her. What’s not to accept? She’s a lovely girl.”

Jules also stated that her daughter “loves women and men.”

Mom seems to be totally accepting of Kristen’s sexuality—but we all know that what matters most is what the Internet thinks.

Predictably, the Internet is divided.

There’s Camp “Obviously.”

And Camp “everyone who drew any kind of conclusions from all those months of overt PDA is a homophobe.”

There’s the supportive camp and the camp that’s vehemently opposed to her mom outing her.

There’s the camp of women who are happy they now have a chance, along with the camp of dudes who need to look up the word “bisexual” in a dictionary.

And, of course, there’s the camp of people being total shitheads.

But wait! There’s one very important section of Internet Reactions to Kristen Stewart’s Sexuality that we’ve left out thus far: the Robsten faction. What say ye, fans who still ship Kristen with her Twilight costar Robert Pattinson?

On the one hand, we have acceptance tinged with regret…

…and on the other, strident denials.

The journalist who wrote the article, Sharon Feinstein, has since been inundated with harassment from Robsten fans accusing her of lying to hide the truth that Pattinson and Stewart are still together.

One of the fans in denial runs a website and a Tumblr where Robsten diehards theorize that the entire relationship between Stewart and Cargile is an elaborate cover-up for the fact that Stewart and Pattinson are not only still together, but they just had their second child together.

Despite the blog’s obvious fiction, a handful of fans evidently believe it.

We’ve seen this one before—but in the case of Larry Stylinson, the epic conspiracy was a straight relationship being used to cover up a secretly gay one instead of a queer relationship being used to cover up a straight couple with babies. Never change, obsessive tinhatters.

Cheer up, Robsten fans! You’ll always have Twilight. The rest of us will have our outspoken, feminist, Converse-wearing, smile-refusing, perfect bisexual queen.
