Emma Watson could tell us about the mating rituals of chipmunks and make it sound elegant, but this week she took to Facebook to fill us in on something legitimately important.

The Harry Potter actress and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador posted a video to her page to tell fans about an event she’s doing for International Women’s Day on March 8 for her gender equality cause HeForShe.

Watson is calling on fans and equality advocates alike to submit their stories about how they’ve made a difference in terms of gender equality. But let her explain. It sounds much more charming when she says it.

In a UN address that went viral back in September, Watson explained the mission of HeForShe, and dispelled the notion that feminism is somehow a dirty word.

I was appointed six months ago and the more I have spoken about feminism the more I have realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing I know for certain, it is that this has to stop.

For the record, feminism by definition is: “The belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes.

If anti-feminists won’t listen to Watson, then this movement is hopeless.
