TIME probably shouldn’t have published this tweet on Amal Clooney’s baby bump

Readers weren't so into her 'chic pregnancy look.'

Don’t you just hate it when you appear before the United Nations to ask them to investigate allegations of genocide by ISIS, but all anyone else can talk about is your baby bump?

Amal Clooney might not necessarily have a problem with it, but TIME Magazine readers definitely did.

On Thursday the publication shared a tweet for a story on Clooney’s appearance at the UN with the focus of the article Clooney’s baby bump.

“Amal Clooney shows off her baby bump at the United Nations,” the tweet reads. The article, filed under the “relationships” section, sports the more exciting headline: “Amal Clooney Rocks the Baby Bump Ahead of U.N. Speech.”

It’s quite the interesting take—this human rights lawyer who interviewed young girls who were raped and enslaved by ISIS wants to UN to investigate these crimes appropriately, but STARE IN AWE OF HER BABY BUMP!

Twitter was none too pleased at the tweet and fired back at the publication’s inability to take Clooney’s work seriously.

For what it’s worth, the article makes it clear that this post originally appeared on People.com.

Does that make the angle any less disappointing? Probably not.

Update 11:15am CT, March 10: TIME notified the Daily Dot that the headline of the Amal Clooney article has been updated to read, “Amal Clooney Addresses United Nations on ISIS.” The headline of the article on People.com reads, “Amal Clooney Rock the Baby Bum on International Women’s Day Ahead of U.N. Speech.”
