How much of an expert are you at CPR, the Heimlich Maneuver, or treating someone with a seizure?

Chances are, you haven’t received proper training since you were a lifeguard in high school.

Fortunately, for emergency situations that could happen any ordinary day, YouTube has plenty of helpful tutorials. These instructionals videos might just save your life—or someone else’s.

1) Performing CPR

This training video expands upon the basic chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation that is popular in movies and TV. Learn the proper order in which to administer CPR, signs to look for, and what exactly each maneuver accomplishes.

2) Performing the Heimlich maneuver

While the facial expressions made by the actors in this video are anything but believable, the tips are absolutely perfect. Learn little-known facts about the proper way to prevent someone from choking, including getting the individual onto his or her feet and what to do in the case of a pregnant woman

3) Treating a severe burn

When someone suffers an extreme burn, our first instinct is to douse the affected skin with water or ice. This video dispels that notion and demonstrates the proper way to tend to a burn.

4) Treating a heart attack

Heart disease is common. This video demonstrates how to treat someone who suffers cardiac arrest, including signs to look for and step-by-step instructions for the victim.

5) Water survival

With summer coming up, many of us will find ourselves in pools, lakes, and the ocean to enjoy a leisurely swim. This homemade video demonstrates techniques that can save your life should you find yourself accidentally stranded in water.

6) How to stop bleeding

Cuts and wounds can happen in nanoseconds. This video will teach you steps to take in order to stop severe bleeding, how to find arteries, and how to properly apply pressure.

7) How to properly flush your eyes out with water

You never know when you will get something in one—or both—of your eyes that will immediately need to be removed. With the phrase "flush eyes with water" appearing on the back of almost anything, a proper lesson on exactly how to do this effectively is welcome.

8) How to treat someone having a seizure

Seizures can unexpectedly strike for any number of reasons. While the victim in this video is obviously stifling laughter as he undergoes the least plausible seizure ever recorded, the tips that are shared are nevertheless extremely valuable. Included in the video are steps to take during and after the episode.
