Maybe giving young children early access to technology isn’t so bad after all.
Two-year-old Bentley Toone’s knowledge of FaceTime made him a hero after his mom was attacked by a dog.
Bentley’s mother, Laura Toone, was outside walking her foster dog when it was attacked by another dog. When she tried to intervene, she was attacked as well. Unable to dial 911 herself, she tried to get her daughters to help.
“I begged my daughters to call 911 and they’re 4 and they were quite afraid to even touch the phone because it was covered in my own blood,” Laura told ABC News.
The blood didn’t bother Bentley, who came with a towel to wipe the blood off of the phone. Already knowing how to use FaceTime, he pulled up the app and called a friend.
Despite Bentley’s track record for pranking his mom’s friends, Connie Guerrero answered anyway and was able to call an ambulance.
“All I could see was his little forehead and I said, ‘Hi, Bentley,’ and it was quiet for a little bit and then I hear Laura screaming,” Guerrero said.
Laura Toone was able to get the medical attention she needed after Bentley unlocked the door for firefighters who arrived on the scene. Her children now know how to dial 911.
