Cartoon nipples get Vogue editor suspended from Instagram
It was a promotional photo for the Paddle8 “No Clothes” auction, but it apparently violated Instagram’s terms of service, which prohibit nudity. On Saturday, her account was removed.
Yesterday, the account was restored. An Instagram rep told the Cut: "When our team processes reports from other members of the Instagram community, we occasionally make a mistake. In this case, we wrongly removed content and worked to rectify the error as soon as we were notified. We apologize for any convenience."
This sounds familiar. Last month, Anna Gensler had her account suspended after drawing the creeps she came across on Tinder, in the buff. After the initial email from Instagram, she received a follow-up, stating that her account was “suspended by mistake.” It was then shut down again, then restored, but Gensler said certain drawings were being removed.
Last year, photographer Petra Collins had her account suspended for a photo of her bikini line. Instagram has been very vocal in its distaste for Rihanna’s nipples. Lest you think the app is only targeting women: Cody Simpson’s bare ass was removed from the site on Sunday.
Because she’s fabulous, Coddington laughed it off, and posted this photo yesterday, with the caption, "Good grief Pumpkin, Mother drew a nude selfie for her very first Instagram. no wonder they shut her down......she is much fatter than that.”
