It’s like Tinder, but for naming your baby

Naming your baby has to be one of the hardest things about conceiving a child. It’s one of the first things you can do to ruin a child’s life—how terrifying! But two creatives have developed a new way to name your little one, and it’s just like Tinder. Damjan Pita and Derek Evan Harms—who both such have such great names already—developed an app called Babyname, which lets partners figure out what name they should choose for their unborn children.

You swipe right on the names you like and so does your partner, and like Tinder matches, the two of you can review which names that you both liked and which ones you hated. It’s kind of genius.

Couples using Tinder is nothing new, too. In 2014, New York Magazine asked “Why are your married friends so into Tinder?” Marisa Meltzer wrote:

Perhaps, at least in part, the envy isn’t even about wishing they were single and seeing what’s on the menu out there, but about fear of being left out by new technology — or way of life.

Earlier this year, a study found that a third of Tinder users were in fact already married, seriously hampering your chances of using it to find your one true love. But now, if you already have a partner, and that partner (or you) is pregnant, there’s a better way to name that baby. 2015 rules.
