Voting for Intel and Lonely Planet’s YouTube vacation video contest, “Share Your Adventure,” has begun, but it looks like only a few folks are participating.
YouTubers have a chance to win $10,000 on their vacation videos, and voting by the public began on September 12th.
While the tally of votes each video received is not accessible to the public, the amount of views on a video are clearly displayed.
The entries for the “Share Your Adventure” contest have already been narrowed down to five finalists by Lonely Planet staff, so it is unclear how many people actually entered the contest. (28 videos are listed in the gallery section.)
Of the five finalist videos, three of the videos have seen less than 300 views. Ashamevlana’s vacation video titled “American Dogman,“ about dog sledding, has seen less than 100 views.
Ashamevlana’s video is well-produced and about interesting subject matter, but doesn’t meet one of the official rule requirements – to be less than three minutes long. “American Dogman” is 3.04 minutes long.

One video entered into the contest, about boating, was disqualified for having additional music, according to a comment the video creator left on his own video.
“Eating Live Octopus,” produced by “Evan and Rachel,” has the most views, with over 22,000 since the video was originally uploaded in March. Evan and Rachel also have the highest number of subscribers out of any of the other finalists: over 1000. (Ashamevlana has three, for comparison.)
Evan and Rachel even made a video promoting their Lonely Planet contest video, and asked their fans to vote.
YouTubers can vote every day until the 25th, and according to the official rules, the finalist “with the highest number of valid recorded votes during the Community Voting Period will be declared the winner.”
