Between the cross-utilization of platforms and circling back, you probably always leave meetings with your company’s accounting team clueless.
Enter Douchey Accountant Guy, a recent Tumblr that popped up and highlights all the jerky jargon accountants use, rivaling even life coaches. The blog launched earlier this month and has more than 100 posts.
One entry is “Let’s bang it out but make sure everything ladders-up,” i.e. don’t screw this up and we’ll be here until midnight until it gets figured out.
Others are “Let me circle back with the clients to get their buy-in.” (We can’t say for sure what that means.) And probably the most buzzy of all the entries? “We can leverage those assets across multiple platforms!” That’s not even English.
Douchey Account Guy joins the plethora of other blogs that calls out doublespeak. Others are Unnecessary Journalism Phrases, which smartly dissects the cliches journalists use (but perhaps we’re pushing the envelope) and the, sadly abandoned Things Real People Don’t Say About Advertising.
