More than a decade after we all partied like it was 1999, because it was, Twitter users were having a collective look back at the decade that was the 1990s on Thursday.
Although the hashtag is nothing new—a search on Topsy.com shows that #InThe90s had been tweeted dozens of times before—it took off in popularity early this week.
It had only been used twice on Tuesday before jumping to more than 50,000 mentions on Wednesday, although it’s not exactly clear why, according to the social media analysis site.
Regardless of why people are remembering the 1990s, Twitter users have come to one conclusion:
Everything was better. From cartoons to music, video games to style (although that last one is certainly questionable), the 1990s was clearly a golden age in western culture.
