This is awfully clever.

For the first time that we know about it, the Mannequin Challenge has been used in the middle of a sporting event. And the confusion and hilarity it caused worked to perfection.

This was the scene when Del Oro High School (California) lined up for an extra-point attempt after scoring the game-opening touchdown against Antelope.

This was a surprisingly effective use of the Mannequin Challenge, which has invaded everywhere from an Alabama prison to Blac Chyna’s labor and delivery room. Confuse the opponent’s special teams by freezing in place like a mannequin before moving to that unbalanced line of scrimmage for the two-point conversion, only to hike the ball to the running back instead of the quarterback (and between the quarterback’s legs, no less). It was the most internet-inspired trick play we’ve ever seen.

For anybody who’s ever dealt with football coaches on a regular basis, they can be some of the most paranoid humans around. But sometimes they’re some of the most creative, as well. Especially when they’re aware of the latest viral trends.
