La La Land is sweet and aspirational and set to win a lot of Oscars on Sunday, but to be honest the David Lynch version is way more interesting.
Since it’s a film about Hollywood dreams, La La Land fits nicely into the dark hallways of a Lynch film like Mulholland Drive. In this CineFix parody, ominous synth seeps into signature song “City of Stars,” and Los Angeles is reimagined as an inescapable waking nightmare where Ryan Gosling is Twin Peaks’ The Man from Another Place.
