Katherine Heigl has deleted photos of her and her husband in a cemetery after she received backlash on Instagram over the weekend.

Heigl was in a Buffalo, New York, cemetery to visit her brother’s and grandparents’ graves, and in a video apology, she admits that she was attempting “to find some moments of levity and humor” in an otherwise “heavy” situation. The deleted photos included Heigl at her brother’s and grandparents’ gravestones as well as sillier poses with two angel statues.

Her husband Josh Kelley posed with a gravestone with his last name on it. In another clip, he pretends to walk with a ghost.

“Next time I will be more thoughtful about other people’s feelings and not just my own,” she said in a second video. Some fans defended her right to post the photos, with one commenter stating: “People grieve differently. Some people want to make it a bit lighter in order to deal with it a bit easier.”
