When Johnny Cash sang “There ain’t no grave can hold my body down,” he wasn’t joking.

Cash, the blues-folk-and-gospel singer from Arkansas, died eight years ago today and Google and Twitter have been busy paying their respects to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member.

On the YouTube page for Google’s Chrome Web browser, the company released a commercial commemorating The Johnny Cash Project, a global art project to help illustrate the music video for Cash’s final studio recording, “Ain’t No Grave.”

The commercial is only the fifth produced under the Google Chrome name. Other artists featured in the commercials include Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.

On The Johnny Cash Project website, people can use a custom drawing tool to “create a unique and personal portrait of Johnny” that is then “combined with art from participants around the world,” according to the project’s website.

On Twitter, the singer was a top trending topic with more 4,000 people using the artist’s name and #maninblack to pay their respects, according to statistics from Topsy, a social media search engine.

“Johnny Cash is one of the only musicians in history who got BETTER with age,” tweeted Sam Beckett (@SeB_or_Sam). “INCREDIBLE.”
