Even rappers who owe much of their popularity to the Internet are now lamenting the existence of blogs. What’s next? Will Lady Gaga start complaining about Twitter?

The newest single is from rapper Childish Gambino—perhaps better known as Donald Glover, who plays Troy on NBC’s Community—joined by two members of YouTube sensation Turquoise Jeep. The unofficially leaked “Fuck Your Blog” arrives with a minimalist beat and more than enough shots at the blog world.

Blogs have played a major role Gambino’s rapid rise to rap stardom. Popular hip-hop sites like NahRight and 2 Dope Boyz have been quick to post any interview, freestyle, or random live performance that features the rapper.

But according to the three rappers on this track, blogs are only good for all the wrong reasons:

  • Posting “First” in the comments
  • Facilitating hate towards Flynt Flossy and telling him that he can’t rap
  • Reading Shit Girls Say
  • “Digging up dirt a lot of peeps gonna see”
  • Writing trash about Yung Humma and playing around like you hate him

The song hit the Web Monday afternoon and has begun to create quite a stir, showing up on blogs like, um, 2 Dope Boyz and Potholes in My Blog.

“We’ve heard it already, rappers getting mad at blogs for their harsh criticism,” the latter site wrote anonymously. “But when you are so damn contrived, as is the case with Gambino, how can you not be called out for being such ann incredibly unauthentic excuse for an MC? Even this blogger call out seems like a lame excuse for more ‘Oh yeah, you tell ’em, Donald!’ from all his SubUrban Outfitters following.”

“The Internet isn’t real,” Childish Gambino raps at the end of “Fuck Your Blog.” But the Internet helped make Childish Gambino. What’s that make this whole mess?
