A legal executive for CBS Corp. drew intense outrage on social media and was subsequently fired Monday after she made comments on Facebook about the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Hayley Geftman-Gold wrote that she is “not even sympathetic” to victims of the shooting because “country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”

Geftman-Gold, who was a vice president of business affairs, also wrote: “If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs [sic] will ever do the right thing.”

Her comments have since been deleted, but right-wing news outlets, including Breitbart, posted screenshots. The Los Angeles Times reported that an online petition circulated, calling for Geftman-Gold’s termination.

Multiple news outlets have reported that CBS confirmed Geftman-Gold was fired because of her comments.

“This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families,” CBS said in a statement, according to the Times.
