World Book Day may leave parents a tad frazzled as they rush to put together a literary-themed costume for their offspring to wear to school. However, as concerns about children rejecting books in favor of smartphones, tablets, and laptops mount, it’s heartening to see that so many kids are still immersing themselves in the magical worlds created by authors.

Today marks the 19th annual occasion, one that’s celebrated in more than 100 counties—the event itself exists to celebrate reading and literature. And whether you’re a parent who’s exhausted and covered in glitter, or just a book-loving adult, we challenge you to not to smile at the sight of some of today’s offerings on social media.
