morning gif logo
Where words fail, GIFs don't.

Here at the Daily Dot, we have an unofficial tradition of sharing GIF images with each other every morning. Now we’re looping you into the circle. In the Morning GIF, we feature a popular—or just plain cool—GIF we found on Reddit, Canvas, or elsewhere on the Internet.

One great thing about animated GIFs is that they bring a visual element to textual conversations, often representing complex emotions and attitudes.

Can’t figure out how to explain your feelings by mashing the keyboard? Just find the appropriate GIF, and let it do the talking. In this way, GIFs are roughly the equivalent of grunts, moans, giggles, eye-rolling, and popcorn-eating in real-life conversations.

The following GIF, taken from a Sega commercial in Japan, is a useful piece of online conversational lubricant.

Post it when you want to say: “Dear Internet friend, I would like to throw you over a cliff and see if you explode.”
