The comedian behind @bill_nye_tho has revealed his identity and called for Twitter to unsuspend the popular parody account.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you crossed iconic educator Bill Nye the Science Guy with the musings of a weed-addled stoner?

Until Wednesday, any Twitter user who had that same question could follow @Bill_Nye_tho, a beloved account that has now been suspended. The account had been so popular that tweets like these netted anywhere from 3,000 to 5,000 retweets:

“u ever see a cloud that look like an animal and it gets u so hype that ur neighbors call the cops,?”

“DONT LET ME CATCH YOU FORGETTIN HOW DOPE IT IS THAT U CAN JUST HAVE FISH IN UR HOUSE”

Now the account holder behind @Bill_Nye_tho has outed himself as comedy writer Lucas Gardner and is asking followers to raise awareness about the suspension.

“hi i'm @Bill_Nye_Tho. @BillNyeDoe is not me. neither are the other ones, fyi. please r/t.” he tweeted, with a screenshot of the suspended account.

According to Twitter’s official rules, impersonating a public figure is forbidden: “You may not impersonate others through the Twitter service in a manner that does or is intended to mislead, confuse, or deceive others.”

However, it’s hardly likely that anyone would confuse @Bill_Nye_tho’s random ramblings with the articulate tweets of the real Bill Nye. Just in case though, Gardner made it clear his account was a parody.

“i'm fake Bill Nye lmao ayyyeee real Bill Nye here -- @TheScienceGuy,” his Twitter profile said, according to Twitter search engine Topsy.

This isn’t the first time @Bill_Nye_tho has been suspended. The account had been shut down earlier this year on July 19.

“my account got suspended for a little while but i fixed it with science lol,” he wrote.

Perhaps this suspension will be equally temporary.
