Legend of Korra is finally returning, with a comic book sequel announced for 2017.

Announced in Entertainment Weekly, the new comic series will begin where the TV show left off in 2014. In a similar format to the Avatar: The Last Airbender comics, the story will continue in a trilogy of graphic novels titled Turf Wars.

Avatar and Legend of Korra co-creator Michael DiMartino is working with artist Irene Koh on the Turf Wars books, beginning with Korra and Asami’s return to Republic City. According to EW, “The new spirit portal has caused no end of chaos, as a pompous developer plans to turn it into an amusement park and the triads reunite just in time to cause trouble for the city’s many evacuees.”

The series finale left plenty of room to expand on the politics and worldbuilding of the Avatar universe, along with some unanswered questions about Korra’s love life. Her romance with Asami was subtly confirmed during the show’s final scenes, so fans will be happy to know that the comics will “focus” on the Korrasami relationship as it develops.
