A lot of new parents are afraid that they will miss crucial moments in their kids’ development. Thanks to YouTube and the magic of time lapse, one New York family can relive their daughter’s very first steps over and over.

Nick Turner set up a camera in his house’s busy living room to track the progress of his young daughter Lucy and her attempts to walk. After many failed starts and falls, by the end of the video, Lucy is finally able to totter across the living room without much assistance from her parents or siblings. And by the end of the video, she is strutting confidently around a local park.

What makes this particular video unique are the details. First of all, throughout her trials, Lucy’s face is never without a wide smile, even when she’s falling on her face. Offscreen gasps and cheers of her parents add to the fun.

However, in 15 years, let’s hope that Nick Turner leaves the camera in the living room during Lucy’s first few attempts at driving.
