Aria Watson was distressed after an unexpected Donald Trump victory. Though she was two weeks too young to go out and vote, the now-18-year-old decided to apply her political views to her photography, creating the compelling #SignedByTrump series.
The Clatsop Community College student took her introduction to photography final project as an opportunity to address the issue of Trump’s past comments toward and about women.
“All I wanted from these photos was to help people realize who Donald Trump really is, and I just want to feel heard,” Watson told BuzzFeed. “I know most people are set on their opinions about Trump, but I just hope one person sees ‘#SignedByTrump’ and it opens their eyes.”
Though the models are anonymous, Watson says that the women portrayed are a mix of Watson’s friends and family. The photographer has also confessed that one photo is a self-portrait.
The powerful photo series has been deleted from Instagram and Facebook, but remains alive on Tumblr. In just five days, the post has received a total of 102,772 notes.
