A beauty YouTuber’s attempt at slamming a makeup artist quickly backfired after the daughter of the artist called her out in a lengthy Twitter post.

It all began when YouTuber Mariale (full name Marialejandra Marrero) posted a video titled, “I Went To The WORST Reviewed MAKEUP ARTIST In VEGAS,” in which she made various claims, the most serious of which included her contracting a skin infection from the makeup artist.

“I got a whole bunch of red bumps on my face,” Marrero revealed to her audiences in the video, shortly before stating she was receiving treatment from doctors for the alleged infection. “I went to the doctor and they said I have an infection on my face … then I realized that I had gone to this makeup artist and was like ‘oh my god I got an infection on my face from the makeup artist.'”

The series of allegations did not sit well with Tiffany Robledo, daughter of the makeup artist, who called Marrero a liar on Twitter.

“This was all a set up and you know it,” Robledo wrote on Twitter. She went on to say that her mother had spoken about everything Marrero had wanted, which included a special makeup request in which the artist was not an expert in.

Robledo continued, saying that her mother only used professional makeup and had been certified by a school in Chino Hills, California.

“Like you mentioned there are cameras in the salon and we have the footage of what actually happened during your visit,” Robledo said in the post. “The makeup artist repeatedly told you to put your phone down because you were disrupting the process making it harder for her to do your makeup. All of her products are sanitized, and she NEVER…used the mop bucket as a place to clean the makeup brushes … anyone with a BRAIN would know to never do that.”

Robledo then said that her mother’s work area was untidy because Marrero was rushing them.

“It’s sad that as a Latina you would come into a salon that is Latina owned and ran so that you can come tear them down in order to get views and likes,” Robledo said. “While this store may not be the high end salons you feel like you belong to, this is a salon for the middle to lower class and is respected in the community.”

The end of Robledo’s note stated that Marrero would be hearing from them again, as the salon considered the video to be a defamation of character.

In the comments, the daughter revealed that her sister has special needs and that the YouTube video was threatening to ruin one of their only sources of income.

At the request of Robledo, people began to flood the comments of the original YouTube video, expressing their support for the makeup artist and her family.

“You have an entitlement issue for sure…. the makeup was good,” wrote one user.

“I’m so glad the lady’s daughter exposed this girl. I would be so heart broken if I ever heard someone disrespecting my moms work like that,” another said.

Robledo continued to add fuel to the fire, conducting her own investigation of the video and pointing to various aspects of Marrero’s allegations which point her it all being an elaborate sham.

“So @MarialeOficial GOT HER MAKE UP DONE LAST MONDAY, WENT TO DOCTOR AND GOT MEDICINE THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS NOW???? FAKE AND A LIAR. YOU WILL NOT RUIN MY MOMS HARD WORKING CAREER!”

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153125714251542528

At this point, Marrero had yet to formally reach out to Robledo, but she did respond to a user who asked her about the comment.

“Everything on my video is 100% real (aside from obvious jokes, such as “salmonella spray”, obviously this woman did not have a salmonella spray bottle). This business did hurt me by giving me a skin infection so I hope the artist will properly sanitize their makeup in future(1/2)”.

“It was never my intention to hurt the business or artist which is why I did not mention the name and blurred it’s location and faces. However, I did receive a skin infection which is completely unacceptable. I hope the artist will sanitize properly in the future (2/2)”.

Robledo saw Marrero’s tweets and quickly slammed her for upholding her alleged lie.

“THEN SHOW US THE DOCTOR PROOF !!! AN EMPTY BOTTLE AFTER RECEIVING IT 4 days ago??? FUCKING LIAR,” she wrote.

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153181373370257409

“Stop lying,” Robledo wrote again.

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153197746125324288

Marrero hit back at Robledo’s claims again. This time, she was responding to another fan who questioned the video.

“Literally have never had acne my entire life,” Marrero wrote. “I’ve been on YouTube for almost 10 years so feel free to look at my face for the last 10 years on videos. I don’t have acne, eczema or allergies on my face and have never had a reaction like this on my face before.”

https://twitter.com/MarialeOficial/status/1153200629369589765

But Robledo slammed her once again.

“Then show us the doctor proof!! Stop responding to other people and respond [to] the daughter of the lady you harassed! Woman up to your lies and fix it!”

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153203361925042176

Then, Robledo began to reach out to others who began to catch wind of the feud that was now going viral.

“She will reply to everyone negative comment but not the ones asking for a doctors note?”

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153323950723612673

Robledo also hit back at people who were commenting on YouTube and posted those screenshots to Twitter.

“You have failed countless times to show a doctors note or tell us your diagnoses. A straight phony. Fake. And a huge liar.”

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153371093110906881

Then, Robledo pushed again for Marrero to personally reach out to her, instead of replying to curious fans questioning who had been questioning her about the issue.

“Call me crazy but on her video it states after a couple of days?? And now she’s saying it happened the day after? Reply to my message,” Robledo said again.

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153501181248806912

Marrero wrote to a fan that she had reached out privately to Robledo.

“Hey! I’ve tried to get in touch privately with your sister but was left on “seen”. Would love to be able to talk with you guys directly,” she wrote.

https://twitter.com/MarialeOficial/status/1153477311951298560

But Robledo partially refuted those claims, stating that after she had responded to Marrero, the YouTuber never answered back.

“Just to show I did message her back, left email and phone number and still won’t respond,” Robledo tweeted along with a screenshot of the message she sent Marrero.

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153513251352666112

“I wanna see a legit doctors visit/discharge note, the actual name of the infection, the so called bad reviews you supposedly found of my mom and the salon,” Robledo tweeted. “Obviously this needs to be discussed in person cause this talking through the internet is getting real tiring.”

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153503082723995648

“AND IF YOU FEEL SO DAMN BAD, DELETE THE VIDEO!!!! @MarialeOficial TALK TO ME OR MY MOM DIRECTLY!!! STILL HASNT HAPPENED. YOURE NOT SORRY AND YOURE STILL FEEDING PEOPLE LIES,” Robledo tweeted once more.

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153515223656960000

“SHE HAS MY INFO TO CONTACT ME AND MY MOM DIRECTLY BUT WONT,” Robledo reiterated.

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153515834146320385

And then, finally, Marrero responded, and Robledo posted the message for her followers to see. Marrero also made a new YouTube video titled “what REALLY happened… Las Vegas Makeup Artist.”

“Here is everything I had to say. I can not apologize for the truth, but I am sorry for bringing pain to the family even if this was never the intent of my video.”

https://twitter.com/MarialeOficial/status/1153528453154537472

However, Robledo was, once again, less than impressed, stating that if Marrero truly felt bad then she would take down the video–something that has yet to happen.

“She said she wanted to find a solution,” Robledo wrote. “I said public apology (not a video) and to delete the video. The video is still up. Her apology doesn’t mean anything till the video Is down. We don’t anything but the video to be taken down. My mom never knew & never wanted to be recorded”.

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153673608553586688

The feud continued to escalate, as Marrero screenshotted a user on YouTube telling her to “go back to [her] country.”

“It’s so crazy this has gotten to this point,” Marrero wrote.

https://twitter.com/MarialeOficial/status/1153765191982563328

And Robledo quickly jumped on that comment, too.

“Imagine getting hate?? Oh wait, my mom did with the video you don’t want to delete filled with lies,” Robledo said. “No, these types of comments are never okay and we never want to wish upon to you. But we want you to delete the video. Respond to our messages. You so desperately wanted…me to keep in touch with you but refuse to ‘create a solution’ but don’t want to reply? Makes no sense.”

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153789823791931398

Then, Robledo tweeted a statement.

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153819790823133185

She also shared a screenshot of a private message Marrero had sent to her.

“I apologize for the main [the video] brought your family. I made every effort to cover your mom even though she never asked me to stop recording,” Marrero wrote. “I unfortunately can’t do anything else other than apologize and work towards not making these mistakes again in the future.”

https://twitter.com/t1ffanal/status/1153822533981839366

Things seemed to have cooled down, although Robledo is still calling for the video to be deleted. As of Wednesday afternoon, the video is still up and running.

It’s unclear how this fued will end, but it makes the James Charles/Tati Westbrook drama look like child’s play.

The Daily Dot has reached out to both Robledo and Marrero for a comment, and we’ll update this story if they respond.
