Twenty years after John Elway’s Broncos thrashed the Dirty Birds in the Super Bowl, Denver and Atlanta meet on prime-time. The stakes are lower this time out, but for starved football fans, the Hall of Fame game is must-watch TV. For the first few possessions anyway.

The Atlanta Falcons are still an offensive-minded team that’s hoping second-year wideout Calvin Ridley continues the jaw-popping touchdown pace of his rookie season. For the Denver Broncos, disgraced veteran Joe Flacco is the next star-crossed signal-caller to lead the team after a parade of post-Peyton Manning clunkers: Brock Osweiler, Paxton Lynch, Trevor Siemian, and Case Keenum. Flacco is better than all of these guys, but in 2019 and in a division with Kansas City and San Diego, two of the league’s best rosters, the Broncos will struggle to be competitive.
