PlayStation Vue channels: The complete list for every live TV package

Here’s everything you need to know.

Austin Powell

When it comes to deciding the right live TV streaming service for you, there are a couple of key factors to consider—namely,  the monthly cost and the channels available. With that in mind, we’ve created a comprehensive list of PlayStation Vue channels, broken up by subscription tiers, as well as a guide to the available premium channel add-ons and our thoughts on the best deal for your buck. (If you’re looking for more general information about PS Vue, you can check out our beginner’s guide here.)

One thing to note: There will be some variation in your PlayStation Vue local channels depending on your zip code. The live feeds for ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC might not be available in your area, but if that’s the case, PS Vue offers an on-demand alternative for each channel—with the noted exception of CBS—so you can still catch all of your favorite shows, if not live sports. (You’ll have to look into CBS All-Access if the live version isn’t available in your zip code.) To see how this might affect you, you can punch in your zip code here.

1) PlayStation Vue Access

Cost: $44.99

The Access package establishes the baseline of channels that each customer can expect when subscribing to PlayStation Vue, and there’s a lot to love, with AMC, FX, ESPN, Disney and much more, in addition to local channels. Note: Your channel package might look slightly different based on your location, but the only variation should be in the local channel offerings.

2) PlayStation Vue Core

Cost: $49.99 a month

While it’s not billed as such, it’d be accurate to describe PlayStation Vue’s Core as a sports package. In addition to Access’ 45 channels, Core includes the Big Ten Network, CBS Sports Network, ESPN News, ESPNU, NBC Golf, MLB Network, NBA TV, SEC Network, and perhaps most importantly, the NFL Network.

3) PlayStation Vue Elite

Cost: $59.99

PlayStation Vue’s Elite package tacks on a bunch of channels you’ll never watch. Do you really need two spinoff channels for both Discovery and Hallmark? Of course not. This package is the equivalent of stuffing yourself with chips and salsa before your meal actually comes to the table. I honestly don’t see a single reason why you should pay an extra $10 a month for this package.

4) PlayStation Vue Ultra

Cost: $79.99 per month

On paper, PlayStation Vue looks like a great deal. It’s only $20 more per month than the Elite package, and it includes Showtime and HBO. But really? That’s it. And you’re better off with the Core package and, if you’re really interested in HBO and Showtime, adding those individually, either through PS Vue (see below) or as standalone apps, would be a lot cheaper.

1) Sports Pack

Cost: $10 per month

The Sports Pack is only available with the Core, Elite, and Ultra subscriptions. It’s worth noting that live games may still be subject to regional blackouts. Some of the channels fluctuate based on the season—so you get ESPN Bases Loaded for baseball season in late May through early June, and ESPN Goal Line when the NFL ramps up in late August. More importantly, the Sports pack is the only way you’ll be able to watch NFL RedZone on PlayStation Vue. That alone justifies the monthly cost.

PlayStation Vue channels: The best option

Unless you’re a sports fan, especially one looking to add the Sports Pack and get NFL RedZone, your best option is actually the cheapest: The $44.99-per-month Access package. It gives you all of the essential channels you need without any of the unnecessary filter. And at that price point, it’s more competitive with other live TV streaming options like Sling TV, Hulu with Live TV, FuboTV, DirecTV Now, and YouTube TV. If you can’t live without premium channels like HBO and Showtime, you’ll save a lot of money by adding those individually, either through PlayStation Vue or as standalone apps, the same way you would subscribe to Starz, ESPN+, or other services not included in PlayStation Vue’s packages.
