President Donald Trump pushed back against criticism he faced in the wake of his longtime lawyer Michael Cohen pleading guilty on Thursday and agreeing to cooperate with Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
In a series of tweets, the president defended his real estate business—including the implication in Cohen’s agreement surrounding a potential Trump Tower in Russia—calling all of his actions “very legal & very cool.”
“Oh, I get it! I am a very good developer, happily living my life, when I see our Country going in the wrong direction (to put it mildly). Against all odds, I decide to run for President & continue to run my business-very legal & very cool, talked about it on the campaign trail…,” the president wrote on Twitter on Friday morning. “….Lightly looked at doing a building somewhere in Russia. Put up zero money, zero guarantees and didn’t do the project. Witch Hunt!”

The tweets show that the news that Cohen is cooperating with Mueller surely has been occupying the president’s mind. However, the phrase “very legal & very cool” caught the eye of Twitter users, who began mocking the president by using his own words against him.
