Kiernan Shipka is set to revive the role of Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

The actress known for playing Sally Draper on Mad Men will play Sabrina Spellman in Netflix’s still-unnamed show based on the Archie Comics graphic novel The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Gizmodo reported Friday.

Sabrina and Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said in a press release that Shipka, 18, was on “everyone’s wish list” for the role.

“We’re all such huge fans of Kiernan’s work,” Aguirre-Sacasa said.

The reboot of the show will be less cheery than the ‘90s ABC series starring Melissa Joan-Hart.

“This is a darker, more macabre version of Sabrina, and we’re incredibly excited for people to see Kiernan make this iconic character her own,” Aguirre-Sacasa said.

Originally, Sabrina was going to return to the Archie Comics universe as a character in Riverdale. But the idea was popular enough to warrant a Sabrina spinoff of its own, and Netflix approved a 20-episode run.

The upcoming show, written by Aguirre-Sacasa, reportedly “imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft.”
