When most people think of companion animals, they typically think of dogs and cats. But our furry friends can come in all shapes and sizes, and don’t even necessarily have to be furry in the first place. Such as this iguana named Iggy, who belongs to Newbury Park, California college student Conner Hallmark.
On Tuesday night, Conner attempted to treat Iggy to a fancy dinner date of some leafy greens and chopped strawberries, along with what appears to be a bowl of Campbell’s Chunky Soup. But unfortunately, iguanas don’t make as good dates as say, bearded dragons.
“Dinner date didn’t go as planned,” he captioned the resulting unfortunate video on Twitter.

While that looked like a pretty nasty spill, Conner and another friend later updated that Iggy did indeed survive the fall, and generally has a tendency to fall from high places. “Everyone, he is perfectly fine. Iguanas are extremely durable,” Conner tweeted.

Now that we know that no iguanas were harmed in the making of the video, it’s okay to laugh, because that comedic timing was next level. Just the way poor Iggy scrambles to stop from slipping off the table and ends up dragging his dinner down with him, not to mention that the camera cuts off at just the right point before he makes impact with the floor, it’s just … [kisses fingertips].
The video has been retweeted around 200,000 times so far, and people can’t stop watching it—while others are definitely getting some serious “it me” vibes.

But hey, on a scale of all-time bad dates, things could certainly be worse. And since iguana’s brains are roughly the size of a pecan, poor Iggy probably forgot all about the awkward faux pas within moments.
