The ubiquitous selfies—maybe you love ’em, maybe you hate ’em. Regardless of how you feel, they don’t seem to be going any place any time soon. People have found all sorts of great ways to mock the fad, but a few years ago, one young man decided to elevate the selfie from a drunken millennial pastime, to a work of genius.

It started with a simple picture of his hands.

It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but it did lead people to ask “How did you take that photo?” There are a million different ways he could have snapped that shot, and he was happy to share his particularly handy (or in this case, no-handy) solution.

Of course, that does raise the question: How did he take that shot? And again he was happy to provide an answer.

OK, OK, that’s enough. We all need to take a nap and process this. Somehow, tomorrow we all have to go back to taking group selfies with friends in restaurants, knowing things will never be quite the same.
