Getting drunk can lead to some regrettable life decisions, from the common and predictable (sending an emotional text to a former paramour, throwing up on someone and/or yourself) to screw-ups that seem impossible.

Martin McNally, a 29-year-old hailing from Dundee, Scotland, got so drunk that he initiated a text argument with himself. Yup.

After a night of drinking, McNally asked his girlfriend for a mutual friend’s number, and she accidentally gave McNally his own number. You’d think that after calling the number, he would’ve realized that something was up. Instead he chose to text, which is where the story gets even better.

Only the following morning did he see what happened: “I was too drunk to realize it was my own number,” McNally told the Daily Mirror. “I must have got frustrated in the end and left it because I didn’t realize what I had done until the next day when I went through my phone calls.”

Still, when you think about some of the stuff people do drunk, McNally’s story really isn’t that bad. Dust yourself off and ask for that number again.
