Good news for the daydreaming newscaster who captured the “it me” feels of working people everywhere when she was caught zoning out on the job: She’s scored a new gig!
When reports surfaced yesterday that Australian newscaster Natasha Exelby had been fired from ABC News 24 for the blooper—during which she spent seconds on air staring at a pen after cameras cut back to her from a prerecorded segment—the internet quickly rallied behind her. It didn’t take long for another station to recognize that virality and relatability are great assets to capitalize on if you’re in the business of seeking ratings.

Sydney’s KIIS 106.5 quickly scooped up Exelby, offering her a position reading the morning news next week while its regularly scheduled show is on hiatus.
The parent station’s national content director Duncan Campbell says the way Exelby handled the attention and public scrutiny shows she “has poise under pressure and, most importantly, a sense of humour so I am sure she will feel at home with the KIIS team,” according to news.com.au.
