Everyone is in love with this bird’s pompadour

The Crested Guineafowl is certainly a unique-looking bird. It’s a common sight in Sub-Saharan Africa but relatively unknown to western audiences. That probably explains why people were so impressed when a picture of one showed up on Twitter.

The photo was posted by an account called “Welcome To Nature,” which usually just seems to compile uncredited animal and nature photos from other sources. The photo of this bird, however, appears to be the exception as it lists “Avantgardens” as the source and a man named Etienne Norte as the photographer.

Regardless of the photo’s origins, people on Twitter couldn’t get enough of the bird. Many of them also felt it bared a resemblance to a much-missed singer.

Although its wild plumage is probably meant to attract a mate, the actual bird in questions would no doubt be unimpressed by its sudden fame.
