Electronic Arts on Wednesday teased what every gamer and Star Wars fan already knew: The ice planet Hoth will be a playable level in EA’s upcoming reboot of the Star Wars Battlefront game franchise.
The week before E3 is loaded with tidbits of news meant to prep everyone for what they’ll be seeing the following week at the expo. Today’s reveal suggests that Hoth will be the focus of EA’s Battlefront programming.
Hoth was a shoe-in for Battlefront, as it’s the site of the only large-scale, combined-arms battle scene in the original trilogy. That combat atmosphere is exactly the experience that the Battlefront series is meant to recreate. Here’s what the Battle of Hoth looked like in the original Star Wars: Battlefront, released in 2004. It’s amazing how far graphics technology has come in only 11 years.
