Levi’s has been partnering with some big names in the geek industry for years. Official Star Wars Levi’s products hit shelves in November, and Levi’s-licensed Disney products flew off the racks when they were released a year earlier. Now, the company is teaming up with Nintendo—and fans are freaking out at the prospect of Super Mario pants.

Levi’s and Nintendo both made the announcement via their social media accounts on Monday. A short video teased the collab, but gave scarce information on what buyers can expect. Two simple emoji—a pair of jeans and a mushroom—adorned the announcement.

The timing around previous lines has people wondering what big announcement is coming from Nintendo. Eager potential buyers are passing the time by guessing what kind of products the collaboration will yield.

“They coming out with Mario and Luigi overalls aren’t they,” one commenter wrote.

A few people wondered if the Levi’s line will have upgrades, similar to Mario’s different looks in his games. If the red jeans don’t pair with a white top to give me fire abilities, I’m honestly not interested.

Memes and jokes soon flooded the posts, where commenters couldn’t help but joke about stealing Mario’s iconic look.

Everyone else saw the announcement as the perfect opportunity to reference an old Mario joke. The joke revolves around the simple Super Mario “Underground Theme” as it pairs with his recognizable overalls. “If there isn’t a commercial using the denim denim denim joke song then why even bother with this campaign,” one person said.

In November 2018, Mickey Mouse turned 90 and a line of mouse-adorned shirts, jackets, and jeans hit shelves. November marked the release of the final film in the Skywalker saga, The Rise of Skywalker.

The announcement from Levi’s and Nintendo doesn’t tell us much. Eager consumers likely have months before they know what to expect from the collaboration, but that isn’t stalling their enthusiasm.
