Announced at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, early Wednesday morning, the title is described as a co-op survival game. It takes place in an alternate universe within the Metal Gear timeline, after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. You are stranded in this place alongside the Militaires Sans Frontières from MGSV, who were not killed after all. Instead they have been transported to an alternate dimension via mysterious wormholes, and they have company in the form of biologically altered zombies out for blood.

The game will accommodate up to four players and will feature brand new weaponry, according to game developer Konami.

The Metal Gear fanbase was not immediately impressed.
