Since opening her YouTube channel in February, New York City singer-songwriter Taylor Ferrera has evolved from lovestruck and laid back to legitimately political tracks about some of the country’s hottest topics. In the past two months, she’s mocked global corporations, mused on her hatred of Bank America, and sang about how Chick-fil-A broke her heart.

This morning, the songwriter posted “Legitimate Rape,” a response to Rep. Todd Akin’s Sunday comments concerning the ways in which the female body can “shut that whole thing down” in cases of “legitimate rape.”

“A lot of controversy over Todd Akin’s comments on ‘Legitimate Rape’ and the miracles a woman’s uterus can do when it happens,” Ferrera wrote on the video’s description. “But how does the uterus KNOW when the rape is legitimate? Finally, someone with the answers—me.”

Tracked over 1:50, Ferrera’s acoustic track, whose views are currently locked at 311, presents a series of situations before deeming whether each is to be considered “legitimate rape” or simply “illegitimate rape.”

“I was a little drunk
Illegitimate rape!
I knew the rapist well
Illegitimate rape!
My skirt was kinda short
Illegitimate rape!
I’m married to the man
That’s a husband’s privilege!”

Ferrera closes the song by making a sarcastic statement about who she thinks should be held responsible for making the health decisions that affect rape victims.

“We all know who to trust to tell us what’s rape,” she sings. “Republicans who’ve never experienced rape. They’re the ones I want to decide that I should keep the baby growing inside. Because abortion’s always wrong. Glad things are so black and white.”
