Comedy duo Lewis Brindley and Simon Lane, of Yogscast, are a modern-day Abbot and Costello.

But instead of radio and TV like the original 40’s duo, Brindley and Lane narrate themselves playing video games and upload them onto their YouTube channel, BlueXephos.

Their wacky adventures, through the popular indie game Minecraft, have earned Yogscast many adoring fans: their videos have collected more than 420 million views. And this weekend, Yogscast hit that coveted YouTube milestone of one million subscribers.

To celebrate, Brindley, known as Xephos and normally the “straight man” of the duo, surprised Lane, aka Honeydew and the zany wildcard, with a morning prank.

Brindley, armed with a “confetti shooter” he “brought on Amazon” enters Lane’s bedroom under the premise that he is bringing Lane some coffee. After Lane mumbles something, clearly still under the influence of sleep, Brindley shoots the confetti canon over Lane’s head.

Bang!

Lane screams as Brindley, and the camera woman, Hannah, laugh.

Lane ends up screaming again once he realizes he is on camera. All in all, a fun video for the duo—which has seen more than a million views since being uploaded two days ago.

“We are thrilled to have reached one million subscribers, and would like to thank each and every fan from the bottom of our hearts – without you guys, it wouldn’t have been possible,”  the group wrote in an e-mail to the Daily Dot.

“Thank you for all the support, especially those that followed us back in the early years and encouraged us to keep filming and not give up. We hope to continue to bringing you gaming content for a very long time – onwards and upwards!”

There was one casualty in all the merriment—Lane’s lamp, a Chinese lantern which was damaged by Brindley’s confetti canon.

“Sadly, Simon’s lampshade is dead and gone, we shall buy him a new one with the video profits!“ wrote the group.

Confetti canons and lampshades — that’s one way to spend YouTube earnings.
