Inspired by the work of former Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Joanna Coles, The Bold Type follows three quirky 20-somethings making their way in the cutthroat New York City publishing scene. This series is occasionally outrageous, sometimes political, and still packed with humor and heart.

Jane Sloan, Kat Edison, and Susan Brady are all employees of Scarlet, a global woman’s magazine. During their gig, they not only write about trends, birth control, and Yoni Eggs, but also develop their own voices while exploring their sexuality, identity, love, and of course, fashion sense.

The Bold Type is the kind of guilty pleasure that Freeform is known for, but it’s more than just fluff. The show has been extremely well-received by critics, with an impressive 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes for season 2. The bar has been set and expectations are high for this season.

Here’s everything you need to stream The Bold Type.

The Bold Type Reviews

What the critics are saying

  • “Not only does The Bold Type merit those comparisons to Sex and the City and Younger], it courts them with intelligence and feeling. … What puts everything across, even more than the likable performances and efficient storytelling, is the series’ understated authority. Without relinquishing the escapist pleasures that the audience wants, it convinces you that the people who make The Bold Type are grounding the story in lived reality, not just secondhand research.” –Matt Zoller Seitz, Vulture
  • “Thankfully, The Bold Type, with its earnest storylines and thoughtful touches, remains a delight to watch.” Hannah Giorgis, The Atlantic
