If your favorite musicians, bands, and the bops they sing don’t make the charts, do they even exist? The 2019 Billboard Music Awards will celebrate the best music the year had to offer. While the Grammys are decided by a stuffy group of shadowy judges, the Billboard Awards are decided by sheer numbers, including song sales, streaming, radio plays, and social engagement tracked by Nielsen. Kelly Clarkson, the first-ever American Idol and celebrated judge on The Voice, will host the awards, which includes big-name nominees like Cardi B, Drake, and Post Malone. It won’t all be speeches and back-patting. K-Pop superstars BTS, the Jonas Brothers, and even Paula Abdul are among the many artists who will be performing live.
