Tyler, the Creator’s NSFW Twitter handle is dead; long live Tyler, the Creator’s NSFW Twitter handle

Firebrand rapper Tyler, the Creator is growing up. 

For ages his hot-head persona was distilled into a series of flippant tweets and funneled through his account, @FuckTyler. But last week, Tyler buttoned up and changed the handle to @tylerthecreator, tweeting:

It’s safe to assume that he meant grow up. Just like he tried to make gay slurs into subversive expressionist art early on into his career, eventually you begin to evolve. But in an interview with Afropunk Brooklyn, the 25-year-old Odd Future leader is transparent about doing it as an appeal to marketing dollars.

“How can I contact corporations, like ‘Yo, invest a bunch of money in me.’ Oh yeah, my name has this in it. First impression is automatically out the window,” he says.

You used to be about the content, man.
