The responses from Twitterers suggest there’s lots of truth to the old cliché, “women want men with a sense of humor.” Countless tweets mentioned a man who is “funny,” has “a good sense of humor,” or “makes me laugh.”
There’s also high demand for men who aren’t afraid to show their emotions: One Twitter user wants a man “who is not afraid to be all lovey dovey in public, even in front of friends. Another calls for a man who “isn’t afraid to show how he feels about me.”
Though for some people, the ideal man not only shows his emotions, “he has to be muscular :)”
Not everyone took the topic seriously. There was also an undercurrent of black humor—and worse, presumably from people who are either very, very mad at their boyfriends or are perhaps incarcerated: the ideal man is “a fucking dead one, murdered by me and buried in a shallow grave i dug behind a marine corps recruitment center” or “on a slab with a John Doe name tag around his toe.”
One woman said her favorite kind of man “understands that because I’m a female, I’m automatically crazy.” Which would mean getting a man who is pretty sexist. So maybe it’s good that barely a minute later, she concluded that her favorite kind of man “might not even exist.”
We couldn’t find any Tweets saying “My favorite kind of man is a heavy drug user,” but there are tweets suggesting that if you do use drugs, make sure they’re high quality: “#MyFavoriteKindOfMan smokes grade A shit, all day :)”
